A Lok Sabha MP on a different mission

It was a rare occasion for the people of Dambuk to witness a VIP visit during the mid-summer month of June when the place is virtually remains an island with its road communication cut off from all the three sides. By visiting the place during such a time of the year when the people are least expecting any VIP visit, Ninnong Ering, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency has not only surprised them but stole the heart of the people of this landlocked sub-divisional headquarter.  Mr Ering mesmerized the people by his extra-ordinary zeal to cross the raging Sissiri river on back of a Elephant instead of availing VIP Helicopter service that too by taking the rider’s seat and maneuvering the elephant by himself across the river.

For the people of Dambuk it was more than a mere VIP visit as they often felt that they are left on their own fate in such difficult time of the year. In fact, he was a Good Samaritan coming home for them. During his visit, the Lok Sabha MP announced a Package of Rs 45 Lakhs to be provided from his MPLAD fund for this trouble torn place. The package includes 25 Lakhs for construction of new Musup (Kebang Ghar) at Remi Village, 10 lakhs for construction of Gangging (Donyi-Polo Prayer Hall) at Dambuk, 5 Lakhs for construction of Staging Hut near new SDO Office Complex and another 5 Lakhs for Flood Protection Work at Bomjir Village besides assuring to look into other grievances faced by the people. This kind gesture of the MP, though not sufficient for people of the area, will always be cherished in years to come.

For Ering, it was not only the first time to directly address the people in time of need but he was always among the first to visit the places in his constituency during trouble time whether it was communal tension at Roing or the protesting anti-dam activists of 2700 MW Lower Siang Hydro-Electric Project at Siang Belt. Indeed, he is a true ambassador “For the People” UPA Govt. at least in his constituency.
